Intern - Robotics Mechanical

Overview of the role

We seek a highly skilled and innovative Robotics Mechanical Intern to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in designing cutting-edge mechanisms for robotic systems, with a focus on versatility and hands-on prototyping. The candidate will have the freedom to explore a wide range of tools and methodologies while actively participating in the entire product development lifecycle. Candidate should have experience and knowledge in mobile robots. 

Responsibilities

1. Mechanism Design:
   - Conceptualize, design, and iterate on innovative mechanisms for robotic systems.
   - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design alignment with overall project goals.

2. CAD Design Proficiency:
   - Utilize CAD tools such as Fusion360, SolidWorks, and Ansys for detailed design and simulation.
   - Create accurate 3D models and engineering drawings to support the prototyping process.

3. Simulation:
   - Conduct simulations to analyze and optimize the performance of robotic mechanisms.
   - Work on improving efficiency, accuracy, and durability through simulation tools.

4. Prototyping:
   - Actively engage in hands-on prototyping activities to bring concepts to life.
   - Collaborate with the fabrication team to build and test prototypes.

5. Manufacturing Knowledge:
   - Apply knowledge of manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, 3D printing, and other relevant techniques.
   - Optimize designs for manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.

6. Mobile Robots and Drive Train Experience:
   - Previous experience in the design of mobile robots, chassis, and drive trains is highly desirable.

7. Immediate Availability:
   - The candidate should be able to join the team immediately.

8. URFD(unified robot description format) creation for Ros

Requirements

  1. Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.

  2. Proficiency in CAD design, specifically with tools such as Fusion360, SolidWorks, and Ansys.

  3. Hands-on experience with prototyping and a strong understanding of manufacturing processes.

  4. Familiarity with CNC machining, 3D printing, and other fabrication techniques.

  5. Knowledge of ROS is a plus.

  6. Experience in the design of mobile robots, chassis, and drive trains is preferred.

  7. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
